Life of Desire by Vikas Shiyal is a painting about hope and desire. Our hopes, which are real enough to be ours but are not, are ours, yet we need to keep them in the garden of life. What separates a common man from a monk is the drive to chase and follow through on their true desires. A desire was all it took to change the world. Capitalism was built on it and so was the greater fool theory. You need to balance desire with ethics and morality and groom it like a rose garden, not a wild bush.
About the Artist
Vikas Shiyal is an accredited artist with his works displayed across India and some online and internationally. He was won art championships and competitions. Been promoted to top spots in certain galleries and has been appreciated by the best of the collectors in the country. He uses transfer and light shadow colors on canvas and other mixed media.
With age, Vikas tries to refresh his childhood and his journey so far. The memories of the time that have passed on to him, all the difficulties that came with him, and those which he conquered. This is well-represented in his paintings. He looks within his family and his daily lifestyle as the source of inspiration for his work. All events that happen within the boundary of the time and space of his life, end up as a lead to the question of why these events are unsettling to a degree. Explaining them with words seems like a futile act to Vikas. He’d rather depict it in a painting or a similar experience. Ultimately, it’s not about an explanation or a quest for answers, rather living his life out on the canvas and hoping that it somehow resolves itself.
